Punjab to Offer 43 Citizen Services at Your Doorstep with ‘Bhagwant Mann Sarkar, Tuhade Dwaar’ Scheme
In a major move aimed at enhancing convenience and improving citizen-centric governance, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced the launch of the ‘Bhagwant Mann Sarkar, Tuhade Dwaar’ scheme. Starting December 10, 2023, residents of Punjab will be able to avail 43 crucial government services at their doorsteps.
This innovative scheme promises to revolutionize the way citizens interact with the government, eliminating the need to visit offices and stand in long queues. The 43 services covered under the scheme include issuance of birth and death certificates, income and residence certificates, caste certificates, pensions, and even electricity bill payments.
Under this scheme, residents can avail themselves of various essential services such as:
- Issuing certificates: Birth and death certificates, income certificates, caste certificates, residence certificates, etc.
- Pension payments: Direct delivery of pension amounts to the beneficiaries.
- Utility bill payments: Payment of electricity bills and other utility bills.
- Other services: Renewal of driving licenses, registration of vehicles, etc.
Residents can easily book appointments by calling a dedicated helpline number (1076) and receive detailed information about the required documents, fees applicable, and how to track their application status. Trained personnel equipped with tablets will then visit their homes or offices at the scheduled time to complete the necessary paperwork, collect fees, and provide an acknowledgment receipt.
This initiative is expected to significantly enhance convenience for residents, particularly those who face challenges in accessing government offices due to mobility issues, time constraints, or distance. By eliminating the need for physical visits, the scheme will also promote transparency and efficiency in government services, while reducing the scope for corruption and middlemen.
“This scheme is a major step towards our commitment to providing hassle-free and citizen-centric governance,” said Chief Minister Mann during the launch event. He further emphasized the importance of facilitating the ease of living for citizens and ensuring that government services are readily available to all.
To ensure the smooth implementation of the scheme, the government is also strengthening the existing network of Sewa Kendras across the state. These centers will serve as an additional touchpoint for residents to book appointments and access information about the ‘Bhagwant Mann Sarkar, Tuhade Dwaar’ scheme.
In addition to the launch of this citizen-centric scheme, Chief Minister Mann also announced elaborate arrangements for the upcoming Shaheedi Jor Mel, which sees thousands of pilgrims visit the holy city of Fatehgarh Sahib every year. The government is committed to ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for pilgrims during this sacred occasion.
The Chief Minister also announced that as a tribute to the sacrifices made by the family of Guru Gobind Singh ji, the state government will refrain from holding any celebratory events between December 20-30. This gesture signifies the government’s respect and reverence for the supreme sacrifices made in the name of faith and freedom.
The ‘Bhagwant Mann Sarkar, Tuhade Dwaar’ scheme marks a significant step forward in citizen-centric governance in Punjab. By bringing essential services directly to the doorsteps of residents, the government is demonstrating its commitment to improving the lives of its citizens and building a more efficient and transparent administration.
