Connecting and Empowering: Himachal Pradesh Joins Hands to Support People Living with HIV
Shimla, Himachal Pradesh: In a collaborative effort to promote inclusivity and empower individuals living with HIV, the Health and Family Welfare Department and Himachal Pradesh AIDS Control Society organized a comprehensive workshop in the city today. The workshop, presided over by Project Director Rajiv Kumar, brought together representatives from various government departments and stakeholders to discuss and strategize ways to seamlessly integrate people living with HIV into the mainstream of society.
Addressing Challenges, Fostering Solutions:
Project Director Rajiv Kumar emphasized the workshop’s core objective: to bridge the gap between individuals living with HIV and various social services offered by the government. He highlighted the state’s commitment to providing free and timely treatment facilities to those affected by AIDS. Additionally, Mr. Kumar commended the government’s financial assistance programs designed to support the education and other living needs of children and orphans impacted by HIV/AIDS. Recognizing the potential of skill development in empowering individuals living with HIV, he urged the HP Skill Development Corporation to explore avenues for integrating them into relevant programs.
A Collaborative Approach for a Brighter Future:
The workshop fostered a platform for open dialogue and exchange of ideas. Representatives from various departments, including Higher Education, Urban Development, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Technical Education, Women and Child Development, State Livelihood Mission, HP Skill Development Corporation, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana, HP MILKFED, and Himachal Pradesh Legal Services Authority, actively participated in the discussions.
Sharing Experiences, Building a Supportive Network:
Persons living with HIV also played a crucial role in the workshop, sharing their lived experiences and perspectives. Their insights provided valuable guidance in shaping effective policies and interventions. Representatives from various departments readily assured their commitment to exploring all possibilities for including individuals living with HIV in the ambit of various welfare schemes.
