700 turned up at Mega Rangoli Competition held at Kalagram

CHANDIGARH, November 7
The sprawling Kalagram lawn on Tuesday turned out to be a fusion of vibrant colours of Rangoli with as many as 700 students from various tricity govt and non-govt schools turning up to be to be part of the mega Rangoli competition held here.
The competition was organised by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, to mark its 38th Foundation Day that fell on November 6.
Students dwelled on various themes which they candidly depicted in their creations, which included social, religious, mythological, and so on and so forth.
However, the cynosure of all eyes were the random creations, which included cracker-free Diwali, women empowerment, G-20 Summit, safe landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon, child marriage, Swachhata abhiyaan, and save trees, et al.
The following were declared winners of the competition. Junior category (6th-8th): Soni & Arushi, Govt. Model Middle School, Sector 13, Chandigarh (1st); Akanshi & Nilesh, Govt. Model High School, Manimajra, Chandigarh (2nd); Anika & Kaniska, Blue Bird High School, Panchkula (3rd). The consolation prize winners were: Janisha & Gurmanpreet, Delhi Public School, Chandigarh (1st); and Avani & Arshiya, Hans Raj Public School, Sector 6, Panchkula (2nd).
Prize winners in the senior category (9th to 10+2) were: Anshika & Nandni, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh (1st); Ritisha & Muskan, Mount Carmel School, Sector 47, Chandigarh (2nd); Sonakshi & Siya, Satluj Public School, Panchkula (3rd). Two consolation prizes in this category went to Swati and Sakshi, Govt. Model High School, Kishangarh, Chandigarh (1st); Lovely & Vanishika, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Manimajra, Chandigarh (2nd).
Event in charge on the occasion said that winners of competition would be given prizes and awarded with mementoes and merit certificates.
A three-member jury, including D.S. Kapur, former Principal, Govt College of Arts (GCA) and Director, NIT, Kurukshetra, Ishwar Dayal, former Professor (GCA), Chandigarh and Ram Pratap Verma, senior artist, judged the competition.
