Nangal’s Kanwar Anirudh Singh Promoted as Major General in Indian Army, Pride for Punjab and Himachal

A wave of pride and celebration has swept through Nangal and the entire Ropar district after Kanwar Anirudh Singh from Nikku Nangal village in Punjab’s Ropar district was promoted to the prestigious rank of Major General in the Indian Army.

His elevation to one of the senior-most positions in the armed forces is being seen as a major achievement not only for Punjab but also for neighbouring Himachal Pradesh, where his family has long-standing professional and social connections.

According to local residents and family sources, Major General Kanwar Anirudh Singh has become only the second person from Ropar district to reach the rank of Major General in the Indian Army. Earlier, Major General Atma Singh Baharampur was the first officer from the district to attain the distinguished rank.

Major General Kanwar Anirudh Singh belongs to a respected family with deep roots in public service. His father, Kanwar Ram Swaroop, retired as Chief Engineer from the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board and is well known in administrative and engineering circles of Himachal Pradesh.

Major General Kanwar Anirudh Singh is also an alumnus of Rashtriya Military School Chail, one of the country’s prestigious military institutions known for producing distinguished officers for the Indian Armed Forces. His journey from the historic military school nestled in Himachal Pradesh to the rank of Major General is being seen as an inspiration for young cadets and students aspiring to serve the nation in uniform.
