135th day of crackdown on gangsters: Punjab Police raids 555 places; 299 arrested

On the 135th day of the ongoing decisive operation ‘War on Gangsters’ in the state, Punjab Police today conducted raids on 555 identified and mapped locations of gangsters’ associates across the state.

It is worth mentioning that ‘War on Gangsters’ – a decisive battle to make Punjab a gangster-free state, was launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams of all districts are conducting special operations across the state in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.

On the 135th day, police teams arrested 299 people, including six weapons, bringing the total arrests since the start of the campaign to 33,917.

Apart from this, precautionary action has been taken against 69 persons, while 16 persons were released after interrogation. Police teams have also arrested 5 fugitive offenders (POs) during the operation.

People can confidentially report wanted criminals and gangsters through the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946 and can also provide tips about crime and criminal activities.

Meanwhile, police teams, continuing their campaign against drugs, ‘Ward against Drugs’ on its 460th day, today arrested 100 drug peddlers and recovered 1.6 kg heroin, 1110 narcotic pills and drug money worth Rs. 16,500 from their possession. With this, the total number of drug peddlers arrested in just 460 days has reached 66,687. As part of the drug de-addiction campaign, Punjab Police today convinced 12 persons to undergo drug de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
