Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday said that traders and entrepreneurs are the backbone of the state’s economy and play a vital role in generating employment, while reaffirming his government’s commitment to creating a transparent and business-friendly environment across Punjab.
Speaking during a state-level interaction with members of the trading community alongside AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Mann said the government believes in direct dialogue with citizens and stakeholders to better understand their concerns and expectations.
He noted that traders and business owners contribute significantly to economic growth and job creation, adding that the state’s development is closely linked to the prosperity of its business community.
The Chief Minister said the government has focused on reducing bureaucratic hurdles and improving transparency in administrative processes, with the aim of making it easier for businesses to operate and expand. According to him, efforts have also been made to curb corruption and simplify procedures that affect traders and entrepreneurs.
Mann highlighted several welfare and development initiatives undertaken by the state government, including free electricity benefits for eligible households, expansion of canal water infrastructure, strengthening of government schools, enhancement of healthcare services through Aam Aadmi Clinics, and recruitment based on merit.
He said the taxes contributed by citizens and businesses are being utilised for public welfare and development programmes designed to improve the quality of life for people across Punjab.
“The achievements belong to the people of Punjab. Our government remains committed to working shoulder to shoulder with traders, entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens to ensure economic growth, employment generation and overall development of the state,” Mann said.
The interaction formed part of the government’s outreach efforts aimed at strengthening engagement with the business community and addressing issues affecting trade and industry in Punjab.
