AAP’s Municipal Poll Success Reflects Public Support for Governance Agenda, Says Arvind Kejriwal

Saptrishi Soni, Mohali, Punjab —

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday thanked the people of Punjab for the party’s strong performance in the recent Municipal Corporation elections, describing the results as an endorsement of the state government’s governance and development agenda.

Addressing a large gathering during a roadshow in Mohali alongside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Kejriwal said the electoral outcome reflected growing public confidence in the work carried out by the AAP government over the past four-and-a-half years.

Speaking to supporters, Kejriwal said Punjab had faced significant social and economic challenges under previous administrations. He alleged that issues such as drug abuse and governance failures had adversely affected the state during earlier political regimes. According to him, the current government has been working to reverse those trends and place Punjab on a path of development and stability.

“The people of Mohali have given the Aam Aadmi Party a remarkable mandate in the Municipal Corporation elections. I have come here to personally thank the people for their support and for appreciating the work being carried out by our government,” Kejriwal said.

He argued that the public response to the AAP government after nearly four and a half years in office was unusual in Punjab’s political history. Kejriwal claimed that previous governments often faced growing public dissatisfaction towards the latter part of their tenure, whereas the AAP administration continues to receive support from voters.

The AAP leader urged citizens to continue backing what he described as a broader transformation agenda in Punjab. He said the government remains focused on delivering public services, improving governance and pursuing development initiatives across the state.

The roadshow attracted a large number of party supporters and local residents, coming just weeks after the municipal elections in which AAP secured significant gains across several urban local bodies in Punjab.

Political observers view the results as an important indicator of the state’s evolving political landscape ahead of future electoral contests. However, opposition parties have continued to challenge the government’s performance and dispute AAP’s claims regarding governance and development.

The municipal election outcome has nevertheless provided fresh momentum to the ruling party as it seeks to consolidate its position in Punjab politics and build support for its future electoral campaigns.
