Meghanath P. Porob, Director of Official Languages in Goa, has been inducted into the Indian Administrative Service through promotion, joining the Joint AGMUT Cadre under the 2024 Select List.
The appointment follows the central government’s notification on the promotion of eligible officers from the state administrative service into the IAS. The order was subsequently communicated by the Goa government.

Porob has been serving as Director of Official Languages, overseeing matters related to the administration and implementation of Goa’s official-language framework. His work in the department has included responsibilities connected with the functioning of official languages within the state’s administrative system.
His induction into the IAS places him in the Joint AGMUT Cadre, covering Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and the Union Territories.
The promotion marks a new phase in Porob’s administrative career and adds to the cadre’s strength of officers drawn through the prescribed promotion process from eligible state services.
For Goa’s administrative establishment, the development is notable as Porob moves into the IAS after serving in a department closely linked to the state’s administrative and linguistic affairs.
