Punjab Police Arrest Key Accused in Mad Sandhu Murder Case in Mumbai, Seize Three Pistols

Jalandhar: In a significant breakthrough in the murder case of Mad Sandhu, the Counter Intelligence wing of Jalandhar, in coordination with the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), has arrested a key accused, identified as Jobanpreet, from Mumbai. The operation also led to the recovery of three pistols, five magazines and 11 cartridges, according to information shared by the Punjab Police.

Preliminary investigations have indicated that Jobanpreet allegedly played a role in the movement of illegal weapons and provided financial and logistical support to the shooters at the direction of handlers based abroad. Investigators are now examining the extent of his involvement and the possible links between the murder case and a wider network of organised criminal activities.

According to the police, the accused has also confessed to his alleged involvement in three firing incidents linked to extortion in Tarn Taran district. These claims are part of the ongoing investigation, and further evidence will be required to establish the full circumstances and individual responsibilities in the cases.

The arrest is expected to help investigators trace the supply chain of weapons, identify the sources of funding and establish connections between the alleged local operatives and foreign-based handlers. Police are also working to determine whether other individuals were involved in planning or facilitating the crimes.

The Punjab Police said the investigation was continuing to uncover the network’s wider connections, including its backward and forward linkages. Coordination between state and inter-state law enforcement agencies remains important in cases involving the movement of weapons, alleged extortion and organised criminal networks operating across jurisdictions.

The development marks an important step in the investigation into Mad Sandhu’s murder. However, the broader network, the precise roles of other suspected associates and the evidence supporting the allegations remain subjects of further inquiry.

Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling organised crime and gangster networks, bringing those responsible for criminal offences to justice and maintaining peace and public safety across the state.
