Punjab Assembly Elections 2027: Muktsar Administration Steps Up Preparations, DC Inspects EVM Strong Rooms and Counting Centres

Sri Muktsar Sahib, November 2: With preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections beginning to gather pace, the district administration in Sri Muktsar Sahib has started reviewing critical election infrastructure, including counting centres and strong rooms designated for the secure storage of electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Amit Kumar Panchal inspected the designated facilities on Sunday, following the Election Commission of India’s directions to ensure that all election-related arrangements are completed well ahead of the polls.

During the inspection, Panchal assessed security arrangements, infrastructure, basic amenities and other logistical requirements at the counting centres and EVM strong rooms. He instructed officials from the concerned departments to address any shortcomings without delay and ensure that every facility meets the prescribed standards laid down by the Election Commission.

Particular emphasis was placed on maintaining stringent security at locations where EVMs will be stored and counting operations conducted. The Deputy Commissioner stressed that preparations must be undertaken systematically rather than left until the final stages of the election process.

He also highlighted the importance of coordination between the district administration, police and other government departments, noting that timely planning and clearly defined responsibilities would be essential for conducting the Assembly elections in a peaceful, free, fair and transparent manner.

The inspection was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Abhimanyu Rana; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gurkirandeep Singh; District Sports Officer Anindervir Kaur Brar; and other officials concerned.

The review reflects the district administration’s focus on strengthening election preparedness at the ground level. With the 2027 Assembly elections approaching, the readiness of EVM storage facilities, counting infrastructure and security arrangements will remain central to ensuring public confidence in the electoral process.
