In a significant breakthrough, Amritsar Rural Police, under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has arrested an Indian Army jawan and his accomplice on suspicion of leaking sensitive data related to the army to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The arrested individuals have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Fauji, a resident of Dhariwal, Amritsar, currently posted in Jammu, and Sahil Masih alias Shali, a resident of Dhariwal, Amritsar.
Investigation Reveals Extensive Espionage Network
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Gurpreet Singh, a Pakistani immigrant, was in direct contact with ISI operatives and allegedly shared sensitive and intelligence information through PAN drives. The main handler in this case has been identified as Rana Javed. Two mobile phones with virtual numbers, used to communicate with ISI operatives, were recovered from the possession of the accused.
Further Investigations Underway
Further investigations are being conducted to root out the extensive espionage-terrorism network and identify all the accomplices in the case. The police have registered a case under the Official Secrets Act and are working to uncover the wider nexus and identify other conspirators.
Action Taken
The accused Gurpreet Singh had joined the army in 2016 and allegedly misused his position to collect intelligence information and leak it to Pakistan ISI. He was introduced to ISI operatives by Arjun, a Dubai-based drug smuggler from Dhariwal, and had been actively sending sensitive military data using pre-arranged drop locations.
