Amit Shah Predicts NDA Government in Punjab, Says Voters Will Reject AAP in 2027 Assembly Elections

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made a strong electoral assertion about Punjab’s political future, declaring that a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government will come to power in the state following the next Assembly elections scheduled for 2027.

In a statement reported on October 22, Shah said the people of Punjab wanted an NDA government and predicted that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would lose the forthcoming electoral contest. His remarks mark a forceful projection of the BJP-led alliance’s ambitions in a state where the party is seeking to expand its political influence.

Shah also took aim at opposition parties and their protests, arguing that demonstrations would not change the political outcome. He expressed confidence that Punjab’s electorate would support the NDA in the next Assembly polls.

Shah links NDA’s electoral ambition to ending drug trafficking

The Union Home Minister also connected his government-formation claim to the BJP’s promise of tackling Punjab’s drug problem. According to reports of his remarks, Shah said that after the NDA comes to power in the state, drug trafficking would be brought to an end.

The statement places the fight against narcotics at the centre of the BJP’s political pitch in Punjab. Shah has repeatedly highlighted drugs, gangsterism and organised crime as major challenges facing the state, while promising decisive action against those involved in the illegal trade.

His latest declaration signals that the BJP intends to make the promise of a drug-free Punjab a central component of its campaign for the 2027 Assembly elections.

A significant political claim ahead of the 2027 polls

Punjab’s next Assembly election will determine whether AAP retains power or the state witnesses a change in government. Shah’s declaration that the NDA will form the next government is a confident political prediction, but the electoral outcome will ultimately depend on the voters’ verdict.

The statement also does not, by itself, confirm a formal alliance agreement between the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal. Any such arrangement would require an official announcement by the parties concerned.

For now, Shah’s message is unambiguous: the BJP-led NDA is positioning itself as a contender for power in Punjab and is projecting the 2027 election as an opportunity to bring a change in government, with the fight against drugs forming a prominent part of its promise to voters.
