Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has directed Commissioners of Police and Senior Superintendents of Police to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against crime and criminal elements, emphasizing the need for comprehensive arrangements to maintain law and order, public safety, and smooth conduct of events during the upcoming festive season.
The Chief Minister chaired a virtual meeting with CPs and SSPs, highlighting the importance of proactive and coordinated measures to ensure citizen safety and security. He stressed the need for uninterrupted traffic flow, effective crowd management, and adequate arrangements for fire safety, medical emergencies, and disaster preparedness.
Mann also expressed concern over rising social tensions and understanding the importance of community policing. He directed police officials to resolve petty issues at the SHO level and launch a sustained campaign to promote peace and brotherhood throughout the state.
The Chief Minister lauded the Punjab Police for its efforts in the war against drugs and its action against gangsters, urging the police to remain vigilant in the face of threats to the state’s peace and progress .
