CHANDIGARH: Senior IAS officer Ramvir, currently serving as Divisional Commissioner of Jalandhar, has been given additional charge of the Patiala Division following the leave of incumbent Divisional Commissioner Vinay Bublani.
According to reports, Ramvir will look after the responsibilities of Divisional Commissioner, Patiala, until October 12. During this period, he will handle the Patiala Division in addition to his existing responsibilities in Jalandhar.
The arrangement has been made following Bublani’s decision to proceed on leave. Bublani is currently listed as the Divisional Commissioner of Patiala on the official district administration website, while Ramvir is listed as Divisional Commissioner of Jalandhar.
Ramvir is no stranger to Patiala. He previously served as Deputy Commissioner of the district from February 2016 to March 2017, according to the official Patiala district administration record. His earlier experience in the district will add familiarity with its administrative structure and functioning as he takes on the additional divisional responsibilities.
As Divisional Commissioner, Patiala, Ramvir will oversee the administrative affairs of the division during Bublani’s absence. The Patiala Division covers a range of districts and involves coordination among district administrations and various government departments on matters relating to development, revenue administration, public services and implementation of state policies.
The additional charge means that Ramvir will continue to perform his regular duties in Jalandhar while simultaneously supervising the work assigned to the Patiala Division until the incumbent officer resumes charge or further administrative arrangements are made.
The temporary arrangement is part of the routine administrative mechanism used by governments to ensure continuity in senior-level administration when an officer is on leave.
The move also brings an experienced officer back into the administrative affairs of Patiala, albeit temporarily. Ramvir’s previous tenure as Deputy Commissioner provides him with an institutional familiarity with the district, while his present position as Divisional Commissioner of Jalandhar gives him experience of supervising administration at the divisional level.
For the time being, the Patiala Division will therefore function under Ramvir’s additional charge, with the arrangement reported to remain in place until October 12.
