Class XI student’s first collection brings together 23 poems on memories, dreams, relationships and life’s enduring lessons; book available worldwide on Amazon
PATIALA, October 23: In an age when young people are often encouraged to measure achievement through academic results and professional ambitions, Patiala’s Nandika has chosen to give expression to another dimension of growing up — the emotions, memories, relationships and everyday experiences that make life meaningful. A Class XI non-medical student at Delhi Public School (DPS), Patiala, Nandika has entered the literary world with her first poetry collection, Things That Make Life Worth Remembering: A Book of Poetry, now available worldwide on Amazon.
The debut volume brings together 23 poems inspired by the moments and people that leave a lasting impression on the human heart. Moving through themes of family, gratitude, dreams, struggles, patience and personal growth, the collection reflects a young writer’s attempt to understand life through observation and expression. Rather than drawing upon an established literary tradition within her family, Nandika has developed her interest in writing through her own perspective, sensitivity to everyday experiences and desire to translate thoughts and emotions into words.
Each poem carries a personal connection, with Nandika dedicating the collection to family members, teachers and individuals who have influenced and encouraged her. These dedications underline the importance of the people who shape a young person’s journey, often through small gestures of guidance, reassurance and inspiration that remain meaningful long after the moment has passed.
Nandika’s family has welcomed the publication as an important milestone, viewing the book as more than an accomplishment in creative writing. They hope its message will resonate with young readers by encouraging them to pursue their aspirations without fear, appreciate the people who support them and remain patient as they work towards their goals. For a student balancing school life with a first literary project, the publication represents an early step in exploring the possibilities of creative expression.
Her father, Engineer Gagan Chopra, serves as Deputy Chief Engineer/IT at the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), while her mother, Vandana, is a Chemistry Lecturer at Government Senior Secondary School, Bhadson. Although the family has no stated literary background, Nandika’s debut illustrates how an interest in writing can develop through personal curiosity, reflection and encouragement.
The collection is dedicated to Digraj Sir of Next Topper, whom Nandika regards as a source of inspiration for students. Dr. Kuldeep Singh also played an important role in guiding and encouraging her through the process of bringing the manuscript to publication. Their support, alongside that of her family and teachers, forms part of the story behind the book’s journey from an individual creative pursuit to a published work.
At the heart of Things That Make Life Worth Remembering is an idea that can speak across generations: that life’s value is often found not only in major achievements, but also in relationships, cherished memories, difficult experiences and the lessons they leave behind. Through 23 poems, Nandika explores these familiar yet
