Punjad Cabinet Approves Key Decisions to Boost Infrastructure and Tax Compliance

The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has approved several significant decisions to enhance infrastructure development and tax compliance in the state. The cabinet has given its concurrence to amend the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act, 1995, to ensure the development of colonies and areas in a planned manner, thereby mitigating problems faced by the general public.

Additionally, the cabinet has approved the constitution of an exclusive Special Court at SAS Nagar, Mohali, for NIA cases to avoid delays in trials. This court will also hear cases from ED, CBI, and other special cases. The cabinet has also recommended prosecution sanction against former Minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Furthermore, the cabinet has given its concurrence to amend the Punjab Goods and Services Tax (Amendment Bill) 2025 to facilitate taxpayers and ensure tax compliance. These amendments are in line with the recommendations of the GST Council and aim to streamline tax processes in the state .
