Rishikesh : THDC India Limited, a leading power sector PSU, continues to uphold its commitment to transparency, integrity, and ethical governance through its proactive vigilance initiatives. Reinforcing this commitment, the company successfully conducted the Annual Vigilance Meet 2025 from March 25 to 27 in Alleppey, Kerala, aiming to embed vigilance as a fundamental pillar of organizational excellence. Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman & Managing Director, THDCIL, emphasized that vigilance is not merely a regulatory requirement but a critical component of corporate governance and nation-building, ensuring a culture of accountability and trust within the organization.

Sh. Vishnoi underscored that THDCIL’s proactive Vigilance Department plays a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency and governance standards. He reiterated that ethical governance is the cornerstone of a sustainable organization, fostering trust and safeguarding long-term stakeholder interests. The Annual Vigilance Meet provided an essential platform for employees to engage in knowledge-sharing, enhance their vigilance capabilities, and cultivate a deeper understanding of ethical governance. Such training programs offer employees the opportunity to step away from routine office work, engage in meaningful discussions, and refine their ethical perspectives, instilling a profound sense of integrity, morality, and responsibility. He stressed that vigilance should be deeply embedded in every aspect of the organization, with every employee, regardless of role or designation, actively contributing to a culture of integrity. A strong ethical framework combined with proactive vigilance measures ensures transparency, efficiency, and fairness in daily operations, driving THDCIL towards excellence and setting a benchmark for the power sector in maintaining the highest ethical standards.

The meet was inaugurated by Chief Guest Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), in the esteemed presence of THDCIL’s Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), Ms. Rashmita Jha (IRS). Sh. Singh highlighted the significance of capacity-building and employee sensitization in reinforcing vigilance at all levels. He stated that strong ethical foundations are key to long-term organizational success, and such training initiatives equip employees with the necessary knowledge to uphold the principles of integrity and fairness in their professional conduct. He emphasized that integrity and fair practices are not just corporate values but essential pillars of a progressive society, where transparency and accountability in organizational operations contribute to a more just and equitable economic system benefiting all stakeholders. The interactive sessions conducted during the event facilitated an in-depth understanding of vigilance practices, ethical governance, and compliance frameworks, further strengthening THDCIL’s commitment to ethical leadership and proactive vigilance measures. Sh. Singh concluded with the Sanskrit shloka “धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः” (When we uphold righteousness, righteousness protects us in return), highlighting that integrity and ethical governance are the cornerstones of a strong and sustainable organization.

Ms. Rashmita Jha, CVO (IRS), THDCIL, emphasized the pivotal role of vigilance in fostering organizational integrity and commended the successful observance of Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) 2024. Conducted between August and November 2024, the campaign revolved around the theme “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity,” encouraging active participation from employees, stakeholders, and the public. The event also shed light on THDCIL’s progressive efforts in strengthening vigilance mechanisms, including the implementation of the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) (ISO 37001:2016) to align with global anti-corruption standards and the enhancement of Complaint Handling Modules for greater transparency and accountability.

The meet highlighted THDCIL’s recent accomplishments in the power sector, including the successful commissioning of the 1320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project, the dry run of the 1000 MW Pumped Storage Plant (PSP) at Tehri, and the ahead-of-schedule operationalization of Amelia Coal Mines in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. These achievements reflect the company’s technical expertise, managerial excellence, and dedication to responsible corporate governance.

With the participation of around 25 vigilance executives from various units of THDCIL, the meet facilitated insightful discussions on preventive vigilance, corporate ethics, and governance best practices. The event reinforced THDCIL’s unwavering dedication to ethical governance, ensuring that vigilance is not merely a compliance mechanism but a way of life that safeguards the organization’s integrity, strengthens its operations, and contributes to the broader vision of a transparent and corruption-free corporate ecosystem.
