Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced a comprehensive set of arrangements for the upcoming Shaheedi Sabha at Fatehgarh Sahib, underlining his government’s commitment to public welfare, safety and smooth management of large religious gatherings. Addressing preparations for the historic event, Mann said the state is expecting lakhs of devotees and has planned special measures to ensure health services, transport, cleanliness and security throughout the duration of the congregation.
The Chief Minister said that six temporary dispensaries and twenty Aam Aadmi Clinics will be made operational in and around the Shaheedi Sabha area to provide free medicines and medical treatment to devotees. To facilitate easy movement, the government will operate around 200 free shuttle buses, along with more than 100 electric rickshaws, allowing pilgrims to travel conveniently between key locations.
Emphasising cleanliness and hygiene, Mann said sweeping machines have been brought in from nearby districts and volunteers have been given clear instructions to maintain sanitation standards. Cleaning operations will continue during the night as well, keeping in view the continuous flow of devotees. He added that mobile service providers have been asked to install temporary towers to ensure uninterrupted network connectivity during the event.
For public safety and assistance, the Punjab Police has set up a dedicated control room with a special helpline number to respond to emergencies and provide information. Nearly 300 CCTV cameras will be installed across the area to monitor crowd movement and enhance security. Fire brigade vehicles and around 60 ambulances will remain deployed on standby at all times. Parking facilities have also been expanded, with five large and sixteen smaller parking zones arranged to manage the heavy inflow of vehicles.
Appealing to the public, Chief Minister Mann urged Punjabis to observe the days of the Shaheedi Sabha with restraint and avoid organising celebrations or entertainment programmes, respecting the solemn nature of the occasion.
Speaking on the recent murder of kabaddi player Rana Balachauria in Mohali, the Chief Minister reiterated his firm stand on law and order. He said the case is being investigated thoroughly and assured that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands. Mann issued a clear warning to criminals and gangsters, stating that violence, extortion or firing will not go unanswered.
He stressed that Punjab is a peaceful state and its people believe in harmony, but any attempt to disturb peace will be met with strict and decisive action. Reaffirming his government’s resolve, Mann said maintaining law and order remains a top priority and those responsible for creating fear or instability will be held fully accountable.
