Akhilesh Yadav Targets Uttar Pradesh Government Over LPG Shortages, Questions Credibility of Investment Claims

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday launched a sharp political attack on the Uttar Pradesh government, raising concerns over the alleged LPG supply crisis and questioning the authenticity of investment agreements signed by the state.

Addressing a press conference, Yadav accused the ruling establishment of failing to manage essential services, particularly highlighting the difficulties faced by citizens in accessing cooking gas and fuel. He claimed that instead of ensuring smooth supply, the system has forced people to stand in long queues, reflecting administrative shortcomings.

Commenting on the situation, the Samajwadi Party leader remarked that the term LPG has come to symbolize тАЬmissing gasтАЭ for many households in the state. He alleged that people are struggling to secure cylinders and are increasingly being forced into long waiting lines, not just for LPG but also for petrol and diesel. According to him, the situation indicates a lack of preparedness and planning on the part of the government.

He further raised concerns about pricing and supply inconsistencies, suggesting that consumers are paying more while receiving less, thereby adding to public dissatisfaction. The remarks come at a time when discussions around fuel availability and pricing have intensified in several parts of the country.

Apart from the fuel issue, Yadav also questioned the credibility of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed by the government for investment and development projects. He demanded a comprehensive investigation into these agreements, alleging that many of them exist only on paper and have not translated into tangible outcomes on the ground.

He argued that such announcements were being used primarily as tools for publicity rather than real economic progress. According to him, the focus of the government appears to be more on image-building rather than addressing pressing governance issues.

In a broader political critique, Yadav accused the administration of being preoccupied with internal matters instead of governance priorities. He suggested that attention is being diverted from key public concerns, including employment, infrastructure, and basic services.

The Samajwadi Party chief also took a swipe at the governmentтАЩs communication style, hinting that messaging and announcements are increasingly driven by optics rather than substance. He called for greater transparency and accountability in governance, especially in matters that directly impact the daily lives of citizens.

The remarks mark a continuation of the oppositionтАЩs aggressive stance against the state government, with fuel supply, cost of living, and investment claims emerging as key political flashpoints ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
