The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made shocking allegations against the Tihar jail administration, claiming that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is being deliberately denied insulin and medical consultations, putting his health at risk. Kejriwal, who has been diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes for over two decades, has purportedly been requesting insulin and video consultations with his doctor, but these pleas have allegedly fallen on deaf ears within the jail premises.

Speaking at a press conference, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the jail administration, along with the BJP, Centre, and Delhi Lieutenant Governor, of orchestrating a plot for Kejriwal’s slow demise. Bharadwaj cited blood sugar readings of the Chief Minister to bolster the claim, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, expressed shock and concern over the denial of insulin administration to the Chief Minister since his arrest. Singhvi highlighted the gravity of the situation, terming it alarming.

The controversy further escalated when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) asserted in court that Kejriwal, despite being diabetic, had been consuming sugary foods like mangoes and sweets regularly, purportedly to create grounds for medical bail. Kejriwal rebutted these claims, asserting that his dietary choices were in line with the recommendations of his doctor. Singhvi informed the court that out of the 48 meals sent from home, mangoes were included only thrice.

Bharadwaj condemned the alleged conspiracy, suggesting that it was aimed at causing severe harm to Kejriwal’s health, potentially leading to multiple organ damage. He raised concerns about the Chief Minister’s well-being, indicating a need for urgent medical attention upon his release from jail.

Meanwhile, the court had granted Kejriwal permission to use a machine in jail to monitor his blood sugar levels regularly, providing some relief amidst the escalating tensions.

The allegations made by AAP have stirred public outcry, with many expressing solidarity with Kejriwal and demanding immediate action to safeguard his health. The controversy has reignited debates over the treatment of prisoners and the responsibilities of jail authorities in ensuring their well-being.

As the political landscape becomes increasingly charged with accusations and counter-accusations, the focus remains on Kejriwal’s health and the need for transparency and accountability in his medical care while in custody.
