In a recent statement, Rakesh Sharma, the State BJP spokesperson, highlighted the substantial contributions made by the Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to the development of Himachal Pradesh over the past nine years. Sharma emphasized that the state has witnessed unprecedented advancements during this period.
Sharma specifically acknowledged Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to Himachal, referring to the establishment of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bilaspur as a pivotal development. Additionally, he highlighted the inauguration of five medical colleges in the hilly state, a significant milestone that reflects the Prime Minister’s dedication to enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
Recognizing the challenges posed by increasing traffic, Sharma noted the Central Government’s proactive response by initiating the construction of four-lane roads in critical routes such as Mandi-Kiratpur, Pathankot-Mandi, and Mataur-Shimla. These projects, aimed at improving connectivity, are progressing rapidly with substantial investments totaling Rs 42,000 crore allocated for the development of 62 National Highways in Himachal.
Sharma also shed light on the extensive road infrastructure development in the state, revealing that half of the roads constructed between 2014 and 2023 were carried out under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. This initiative, designed to provide road connectivity to every village, has significantly contributed to enhancing accessibility in remote areas.
Highlighting the commitment to railway connectivity, Sharma mentioned the allocation of Rs 800 crore by the Modi government for the Bhanupalli-Bilaspur railway line, a strategic move to enhance transportation networks in the region.
