Alert BSF and Punjab Police Thwart Drone-Based Smuggling Attempt in Amritsar

Early morning on December 19th, 2023, the vigilance of Border Security Force (BSF) troops paid off when they intercepted a suspected drone near Dhanoe Khurd village in Amritsar district, Punjab. Following established protocols, the BSF swiftly reacted and managed to seize the drone.

Immediately, a joint search operation with Punjab Police was launched in the surrounding area. The meticulous search yielded fruitful results at around 4:20 AM. In a nearby farmland, the team discovered a DJI Mavic 3 Classic quadcopter drone (manufactured in China) along with a 430-gram packet of contraband heroin. The drugs were wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and attached to the drone with a hold-and-release mechanism, accompanied by a nylon string ring and a small illuminating torch.

This successful operation prevented yet another smuggling attempt utilizing drone technology. The swift and coordinated action by BSF and Punjab Police demonstrates their commitment to curbing cross-border narcotics trafficking.
