Allegations of BJP’s “Operation Lotus” in Punjab Spark Controversy: AAP Claims Attempts to Lure Away MLAs

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised concerns over the alleged resurgence of the BJP’s “Operation Lotus” in Punjab, accusing the party of attempting to destabilize Arvind Kejriwal’s political stronghold. While the BJP has remained silent on these allegations thus far, AAP legislators have come forward with claims of enticing offers to defect.

Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy, an AAP legislator representing Jalalabad, disclosed that he received a suspicious call from Sewak Singh, purportedly from an international number, offering inducements to join the BJP. According to Kamboj, the caller allegedly proposed a substantial monetary incentive of “Rs 20-25 crore” to switch allegiance, a proposition promptly declined by the MLA.

Similar encounters were reported by Balluana MLA Amandeep Singh and Ludhiana South legislator Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina, who reaffirmed their commitment to the AAP, stating unequivocally their intention to remain with the party.

Kamboj further accused the BJP of resorting to such tactics out of fear of Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP’s rising popularity. He alleged that where the BJP fails to secure electoral victory, they seek to sway MLAs, MPs, and AAP leaders with enticing offers, regardless of ethical considerations.

Emphasizing Kejriwal’s anti-corruption stance and commitment to governance, Kamboj lamented the proliferation of baseless allegations and the unjust incarceration of AAP leaders. He hailed Kejriwal as a beacon of integrity in political circles, highlighting his dedication to delivering tangible results to the people.

The allegations leveled by AAP against the BJP have stirred controversy, shedding light on the murky realm of political maneuvering and the challenges faced by emerging parties like AAP in maintaining their integrity amidst external pressures.
