Amritsar Gears Up for Women Empowerment with Pink E-Auto Project

Amritsar Smart City Ltd. is taking a significant stride towards women empowerment with the launch of the RAAHI project. This initiative aims to provide 200 pink e-autos to deserving women drivers at subsidized rates. On July 3rd, 2024, a meeting was held at the Municipal Corporation Amritsar to apprise 35 women drivers of the project guidelines and address concerns.

The meeting, led by Additional Commissioner Surinder Singh, emphasized the project’s core objective: to empower women by granting them economic independence through subsidized e-autos. This initiative fosters women’s participation in the workforce and paves the way for a more equitable society.

However, the meeting also addressed a crucial issue – reports of men driving these pink e-autos, meant exclusively for women drivers. Additional Commissioner Singh sternly warned against such violations, highlighting the project’s purpose of empowering women. He emphasized the formation of monitoring teams to identify and penalize violators, ensuring the project’s integrity.

The RAAHI project presents a promising approach to women’s empowerment in Amritsar. By offering subsidized e-autos, the initiative equips women with the tools to become financially independent and contribute meaningfully to society.
