Ayodhya Temple Witnessed Historic Consecration of New Ram Lalla Idol Led by Prime Minister Modi
In a momentous event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the consecration ceremony of the new Ram Lalla idol at the Ayodhya temple. The ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony, a significant occasion in India’s political and religious history, saw the Prime Minister performing rituals, including the 84-second ‘Abhijeet muhurta.’ Army helicopters showered flower petals on the newly constructed Janmabhoomi temple as celebrations erupted in parts of Uttar Pradesh.
The ceremony, attended by prominent figures like Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, marked the inauguration of the temple. The newly carved idol, depicting five-year-old Ram, was draped in a yellow dhoti and adorned with stone-studded jewelry. The event featured a devotional ‘mangal dhwani’ with fifty traditional musical instruments from various regions.
Prime Minister Modi, ending his 11-day fast, addressed a gathering of 8,000 people, including seers, Ram Janmabhoomi movement affiliates, and celebrities from different fields. The consecration ceremony, just months before the Lok Sabha elections, witnessed the presence of senior BJP leaders. The run-up to the event saw political sparring between the BJP and the Opposition.
The new idol, carved from black stone by Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj, is expected to be open to the public from Tuesday. The celebrations, marked by singing and dancing, reflected the emotional significance of the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla’s life in Ayodhya Dham. Prime Minister Modi expressed his joy at being part of this divine program, tweeting, ‘Hail Siya Ram!’
