BJP Makes Power Play in Rajya Sabha Polls: Nadda in Gujarat, Poaches Chavan from Congress in Maharashtra
In a strategic move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Party president J P Nadda will contest from Gujarat, while recent Congress defector Ashok Chavan will represent Maharashtra. Notably, Nadda currently holds a seat from Himachal Pradesh, but the BJP lacks the numbers to secure his reelection there.
Gujarat’s BJP nominees include Govindbhai Dholakia, Mayankbhai Nayak, and Dr Jashvantsinh Parmar, while Medha Kulkarni and Dr Ajit Gopchhade will contest from Maharashtra alongside Chavan. These nominations highlight the BJP’s strategy to strengthen its presence in both states.
