Chandigarh Administration Lays Foundation Stone for MBBS Student Hostel Block at GMCH Campus
In a significant move to bolster the medical infrastructure of U.T. Chandigarh, the Chandigarh Administration, led by Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, alongside esteemed dignitaries including Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Chandigarh, laid the foundation stone for a new Hostel Block for MBBS Students at GMCH campus, Sector-48.
The Hostel Block, spanning an impressive covered area of 2,40,750 sq. ft., is set to be completed within 2 years at an estimated cost of Rs. 50.00 Crore. This six-storied structure with a basement will cater to the accommodation needs of 287 boys and 287 girls separately, addressing the longstanding shortage of hostel facilities for MBBS students in the region.
Designed to provide modern amenities and comfort, the hostel will feature provisions for 149 car parking spaces in the basement, along with facilities such as lifts, a fully equipped kitchen, spacious dining hall, ramps, and staircases for seamless student movement.
The construction of this state-of-the-art hostel building is a testament to the Chandigarh Administration’s commitment to advancing medical education and infrastructure. Once operational, it will significantly alleviate the shortage of hostel facilities, ensuring a conducive environment for MBBS students to pursue their education effectively.
