Chandigarh Angels Network Hosts Meet & Greet with Chandigarh Administration
Chandigarh Angels Network (CAN) hosted a Meet & Greet event on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in collaboration with the Chandigarh Administration. The event brought together government officials, CAN portfolio startups from all over India, angel investors, high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), curated startups, and heads of startup communities, organizations, and partner networks and funds from the region.
The event began with a welcome note and introduction to CAN’s work in the field of investments and community building. CAN is a well-known angel network across India, and many of its portfolio companies are big names today.
In her welcome address, the Chief Guest, Ms. Hargunjit Kaur, Secretary of Industries, Chandigarh Administration, shared the administration’s interest and intent to nurture startups in the Chandigarh region. She highlighted the administration’s endeavor to be an enabler in the existing startup ecosystem.
To support the administration’s intent, CAN is in the process of introducing several initiatives to nurture startups from the region. These initiatives include:
- Investing more in local startups
- Nurturing and guiding local startups to help them become world-level companies
- Collaborating with all big networks and funds to attract their interest in the region’s startups
As a part of this initiative, CAN announced its investment in JaggerCane, a local startup that produces jaggery-based products. JaggerCane has a vision to replace white sugar with jaggery products in everyday life. The startup offers a range of jaggery-based products that are hygienic and tasty.
CAN also announced its initiative to partner with all known networks and funds from across India to co-invest in startups from the region.
The event featured startup pitches from three startups from different industries and geographies. The startups pitched to CAN (HNIs) for investment into their respective ventures.
In addition to the startup pitches, the event also featured a panel discussion on cash flow management for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. The panel speakers were from Finofii, SBI Mutual Fund, and Harvesting Farmers Network.
