Chandigarh, January 6, 2024: In a swift operation aimed at curbing illegal alcohol trade, the Excise & Taxation Department of Chandigarh today confiscated a significant haul of unauthorized liquor from vends and godowns in Sectors 22 and 26. The teams, led by Excise Taxation Officers Nirpjit and Randhir, seized a total of 925 bottles, including high-value imported brands.

The seized liquor was found to be without mandatory security holograms, proper permits, and approved labels, raising serious concerns about its origin and potential health risks. In a strong statement, the Excise Department has declared its intention to pursue strict legal action against those involved, as per the provisions of the Excise Act.
