Chandigarh Gearing Up for Elections: Sector Officers Trained and Ready for Duty

Chandigarh, January 9, 2024: In preparation for the upcoming General Elections in 2024, the Election Commission of Chandigarh conducted a comprehensive training and orientation program for Sector Officers and Sector Police Officers at the Multipurpose Hall of the New U.T. Secretariat Building, Sector 9.

The program, chaired by Mr. Vinay Pratap, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, served as a critical step in ensuring a smooth and efficient electoral process.

During the program, Sector Officers were thoroughly informed about their vital roles and responsibilities in overseeing a successful election. State-level Master Trainers delivered detailed sessions on vulnerability mapping, the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), and the Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT). These crucial elements are fundamental to upholding the integrity and transparency of the election process.

Adding valuable insights to the training were seasoned Sector Officers who shared their past experiences in managing elections seamlessly. Their firsthand accounts provided practical knowledge and instilled confidence in the newly appointed officers.

Mr. Vinay Pratap addressed the participants, emphasizing the significance of their role in shaping the outcome of the elections. He outlined their expected conduct and underscored the values of impartiality and professionalism required for upholding the democratic ideals of the election.

Recognizing the dynamic nature of electoral processes, the Election Commission plans to conduct further training sessions in the coming days. These sessions will ensure that officers are updated on any necessary changes and equipped to handle any unforeseen challenges that may arise.

The proactive approach adopted by the Chandigarh Election Commission in training and preparing its personnel reflects a commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections in 2024. This initiative paves the way for a vibrant electoral environment where every citizen can exercise their right to vote with confidence.
