Chandigarh opens first Model Immunization Centre

Chandigarh has opened its first Model Immunization Centre (MIC) at GMSH 16. The centre is equipped with a teaching facility for health professionals and will provide services to needy children. The Health Department Chandigarh has planned to establish 10 MICs in UT Chandigarh to boost public confidence in immunization services, increase acceptability of vaccines in the community, and improve cold chain maintenance. The MICs will provide a child-friendly ambience, safe and clean playing area, adequate and comfortable seating arrangements for parents/ guardians, AEFI management area, breastfeeding enclosure, entertainment facilities for children and parents, children’s library, drinking water, and teaching area for health staff. The work on the rest of the MICs in Chandigarh is in full swing and will be functional soon.

Immunization Department UT Chandigarh has already scored excellent achievements in GOI key indicators

  1. Full Immunization of Children=103%( Target- 95%)
  2. AEFI surveillance= First in Country with 98.3 % score and Declared as Excellent Performing State by MoHFW.
  3. MR 1/ MR 2 (Measles and Rubella) =98%( Target-95%)
  4. Measles Rubella Elimination Checklist =100%
  5. Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 = More than 100%
  6. Non Measles Non Rubella ( NMNR) Discard Rate = 5.57 per Lac ( Target-2 per Lac)
  7. Pulse Polio Achievement =105%
  8. Adequate Sample Rate (Polio) = FIRST in country with 100% ( Target 80%)
  9. Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) Rate =5.2 per Lac (Target 2 per Lac)
  10. Cold Chain Management= Sickness Rate ZERO ( First in country)
  11. Temperature Loggers Installation = 100%

Health Department Chandigarh shall endeavour constantly to maintain high standards in immunization services in Chandigarh.
