Chandigarh Takes Lead in Anti-Dengue Campaign with Bike-Car Rally

The Malaria Wing of the Health Department of U.T., Chandigarh, in collaboration with the NGO Contribution Smart City Chandigarh, conducted an anti-dengue drive and awareness bike-car rally on Sunday. More than 70 bikers and 20 cars participated in the event, including volunteers of the NGO, officers, officials, and field workers from the Malaria Wing of the Health Department.The rally was flagged off by Dr. Dharampal IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, who appreciated the efforts of the Health Department for the anti-dengue drive and asked them to continue their efforts to contain dengue and other vector-borne diseases. Sh. Ajay Chagti IAS, Secretary Health, Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health Services, and Vikram Bawa, Founder of NGO- Contribution Smart City, were also present on the occasion.

The rally proceeded from Sector 9 to the four sensitive areas of Daria, Faidan, Dadumajra, and Maloya. On reaching these areas, the team carried out an extensive house-to-house survey for mosquitogenic conditions. They also held IEC activities like megaphone announcements and pamphlet distribution regarding dengue preventive measures. Fogging was also done in different locations at these places. 21 notices were also served to the defaulters for mosquitogenic conditions.

The anti-dengue drive and awareness rally is a commendable effort by the Chandigarh Administration and the NGO Contribution Smart City Chandigarh. It is important to raise awareness about dengue and other vector-borne diseases and take preventive measures to control their spread.
