“Chief Minister Allocates Rs. 9.88 Crore Relief Package for Disaster-Affected Sirmaur District”

In a significant development, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu distributed a relief package amounting to Rs. 9.88 crore as the first installment for the rehabilitation of 1388 disaster-affected families in Sirmaur district. The distribution included Rs. 1.98 crore for 66 completely damaged houses, Rs. 6.37 crore for 718 partially damaged houses, Rs. 1.15 crore for damage to 292 cow sheds, and Rs. 38 lakh for other affected individuals.
Addressing a well-attended public gathering in Nahan, the Chief Minister attributed the challenging phase faced by the state to the financial mismanagement of the previous BJP government. He emphasized the present government’s commitment to making the state self-reliant in the next four years and the most prosperous state in the country within the next decade.
Sukhu shared updates on the Renuka Dam project, discussions with the Delhi and Central Governments, and requests for funding in the Kishau Hydroelectric Project. He also highlighted the government’s efforts to increase royalty in hydro power projects for revenue generation.
Discussing the Hatti community’s status in the Transgiri region, the Chief Minister clarified the state government’s stance and the issuance of a notification for Scheduled Tribe status after seeking clarification from the Central Government.
The Chief Minister criticized the BJP for alleged corruption in the HP Staff Selection Commission during their regime, highlighting the government’s actions to disband the commission and establish ‘Rajya Chayan Aayog’ for transparent recruitment processes.
Sukhu outlined significant decisions taken during the government’s one-year tenure, including the restoration of the old pension scheme, the launch of Mukhya Mantri Sukh Ashray Yojana for orphan children, and the initiation of the Rs. 680 crore Rajiv Gandhi Start-up Yojna.
Reflecting on the 2023 natural calamity, the Chief Minister highlighted the state’s extensive losses and announced a special economic package of Rs. 4500 crore for disaster relief. He emphasized the government’s relentless pursuit of financial assistance from the Central Government.
The Chief Minister addressed upcoming initiatives, including the Dr Y.S Parmar Student Loan Scheme, schemes for farmers’ income enhancement, the introduction of English medium in government schools, and improvements in health facilities.
Local MLA demands were met with announcements from the Chief Minister, including road approvals and the construction of bridges, benefiting thousands of residents. Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan praised the Chief Minister’s historic decisions and contributions to Sirmaur district’s development.
Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar and MLA Ajay Solanki expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s announcements, acknowledging the fulfillment of long-pending demands. Former MLAs, district Congress committee officials, and various Panchayat representatives were also present at the event.
