Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Arrested by Enforcement Directorate Amid Protests
As per the news is coming, Kejriwal has moved the Supreme Court for the bail.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after conducting a lengthy interrogation at his residence. Prior to this, the ED had seized Kejriwal’s mobile phone and escorted him to their headquarters. Amidst apprehension surrounding the arrest, a large number of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers protested outside his residence. Ministers Atishi and Saurabh were also present at the scene. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a significant police force was deployed at the site.
The Delhi High Court had earlier rejected the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the money laundering case related to the liquor scam on Thursday morning. Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Manoj Jain’s bench has listed Kejriwal’s plea for further consideration on April 22nd. The bench stated, “We have heard both parties and we are not inclined to grant protection at this stage. The respondent is at liberty to file a reply.”
Kejriwal’s plea for interim relief is part of the petition challenging the summons issued to him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for interrogation. Kejriwal has approached the court against the ninth summons issued by the ED. He was asked to appear before the agency on Thursday for the ninth summons.
