Chief Minister Delivers on Flood Relief Promise, Distributes Compensation Checks

In a decisive move to fulfill his commitment towards the flood-stricken populace, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann handed out compensation checks to those severely impacted by the recent floods, compensating them for the extensive damages inflicted.

At a state-level event commemorating Independence Day held in Patiala, Chief Minister Mann underscored the significance of the compensation process, initiated after an exhaustive special “girdawari” (revenue assessment) conducted across the state. He affirmed the Punjab government’s unwavering dedication to providing relief to flood victims, assuring that the necessary funds were readily available for this purpose.

Chief Minister Mann further highlighted his proactive engagement with the affected areas, personally assessing the ground situation. He pledged that every possible effort would be exerted to aid the inhabitants of the flood-affected districts. He elaborated on the special survey initiated to quantify the extent of the damage incurred due to the floods, and he issued directives to expedite the process, ensuring the completion of the special “girdavari” by August 15.

With empathy, the Chief Minister acknowledged the severity of the situation, noting that 1495 villages spanning 19 districts had been adversely impacted by the floods. Mann outlined the comprehensive approach being adopted to provide compensation for various forms of loss, including crops, livestock, homes, and other damages. He expressed his resolve to reimburse every bit of loss incurred, emphasizing the government’s commitment to leaving no victim unattended.
