In a major move to accelerate development in Kangra’s Dehra constituency, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated new Chief Minister and Superintendent of Police offices, stating that these steps would prioritize and modernize the region’s growth. Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister expressed that Dehra has faced developmental delays and assured that this new office setup would allow residents to complete administrative tasks locally instead of traveling to Shimla. The establishment of the Chief Minister’s office in Dehra involves the relocation of certain officers and staff from Shimla, making government resources more accessible to the local population.

The Chief Minister announced additional facilities, including the establishment of Public Works Department, Jal Shakti Department, and Electricity Board offices with fully staffed personnel to support the infrastructure needs of the constituency. He also unveiled plans to improve healthcare, including a Critical Care Unit and a Block Medical Office (BMO) at the Civil Hospital in Dehra.

To transform Kangra into the tourism capital of Himachal Pradesh, the Chief Minister highlighted significant projects in Dehra. A Zoological Park is under construction with a budget of ₹300 crore, with an additional ₹4 crore recently allocated to expand the water facilities at the park. Plans are also underway to develop the Pong area as a tourist attraction, with the construction of a new hotel to cater to visitors. Sukhu also affirmed that efforts are being made to address issues faced by families displaced by the Pong Dam project, emphasizing that Dehra’s development would also positively impact nearby Jwalamukhi and Jaswan Paragpur constituencies.

With a focus on connectivity, Sukhu announced the construction of a four-lane road from Ranital to Mubarikpur, expected to greatly improve access in the region. He reiterated the government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant by 2027 and transforming it into one of the nation’s most prosperous states by 2032, emphasizing the importance of financial discipline for the future of the state and its youth. Sukhu assured that steps are being taken to strengthen Himachal’s economy, paving the way for long-term growth.

The event was attended by Dehra MLA Kamlesh Thakur, Jawalamukhi MLA Sanjay Ratan, Congress leader Surinder Mankotia, DGP Dr. Atul Verma, Deputy Commissioner Kangra Hemraj Bairwa, SP Dehra Ashok Ratan, SP Kangra Shalini Agnihotri, and other senior officials.
