China Releases Map Claiming Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh, India Rejects
China has released a new map that claims ownership of Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh, which India has categorically rejected.
The map, released on Monday, shows Aksai Chin, which China occupied in the 1962 war, and Arunachal Pradesh, which China claims as South Tibet, as part of its territory. The map also shows the entire South China Sea as part of China, as it had in previous editions.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in response to the map. He said that the map issue is very serious and that China has taken away India’s land.
The Indian government has said that it will not accept the Chinese map and that it will take all necessary steps to protect its territorial integrity.
The release of the map has come at a time when tensions between India and China are already high due to the ongoing border standoff in Ladakh. The standoff began in May 2020 and has seen both sides build up troops in the region.
The Indian government has said that it is committed to resolving the border issue through dialogue, but it has also warned that it will not tolerate any Chinese aggression.
The release of the map is likely to further complicate the situation and could lead to further tensions between India and China.
