CM Bhagwant Mann Highlights the Pivotal Role of Women in Society’s Progress at Women Empowerment Summit in Moga

In a move to emphasize the importance of women’s empowerment, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann attended the Women Empowerment Summit at ISF College in Moga, where he championed the idea of “Empowered Women, Empowered Society.” Highlighting the integral role of women in fostering societal progress and development, Mann underscored their potential to drive prosperity on both regional and global levels.

The Chief Minister praised Indian women, particularly Punjabi women, for their remarkable contributions to modern society. He stated that women are now pivotal in fostering social and cultural awareness across the world and are increasingly sharing responsibilities in areas like safeguarding international borders. Mann encouraged efforts to improve women’s status in society and ensure their rightful place, urging voluntary participation from NGOs and social organizations to further this cause.

Mann also lauded the efforts of MNC Grant Thornton, which has significantly contributed to transforming the lives of over 10,000 women by supplementing their income through various initiatives. He cited an impressive 40% increase in income for these women and their families due to the company’s interventions, including training 25 women as drone pilots. This, he said, demonstrates the power of empowering women to drive socio-economic development.

The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to fostering gender equality by creating opportunities for women to excel in various fields. He emphasized the importance of equipping girls with quality education, asserting that with proper opportunities, they can accomplish remarkable feats. Mann also highlighted the government’s focus on supporting women entrepreneurs and providing them with resources to thrive.

In a symbolic gesture of support for women’s entrepreneurial ventures, Mann visited stalls showcasing a range of women-led products, including cold-pressed mustard oil, basmati rice, honey, desi ghee, terracotta art, and innovative uses of drone technology. The state government has also initiated programs such as providing sewing machines to women and awarding them contracts for producing school and police uniforms, further encouraging their economic participation.

Drawing parallels with other global examples, Mann noted the role of Chinese women in driving the country’s manufacturing success, envisioning similar opportunities for Punjabi women to excel on the world stage. He announced that these initiatives are part of the government’s broader vision to make Punjab a frontrunner in economic and social development.

The Chief Minister also touched upon his government’s achievements, including providing nearly 50,000 government jobs purely on merit. He highlighted the administration’s focus on sectors like health, education, power, water, and infrastructure as part of its pro-people and development-oriented policies.

Taking a sharp dig at previous administrations, Mann accused Akali leaders of corruption and misdeeds, asserting that their actions have caused long-lasting harm to the state. He criticized Sukhbir Singh Badal for allegedly avoiding accountability and misleading the public.

Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian joined Mann in praising the state’s initiatives for women empowerment, reaffirming the government’s dedication to transforming Punjab into a hub of prosperity and equality.
