CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Assures Swift Relief and Restoration in Hamirpur’s Landslide-Hit Areas

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, during his visit to the landslide-affected regions of the Bhoranj Assembly segment, affirmed the State Government’s unwavering commitment to provide comprehensive assistance to the families affected by the disaster, despite financial constraints. The Chief Minister’s visit was aimed at reviewing relief operations and evaluating the situation in villages impacted by the recent heavy rains and landslides.

Addressing the media at Kanjian helipad in Hamirpur, Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the Government’s resolve to accelerate relief and restoration efforts. He expressed heartfelt empathy for those who have lost their homes and incurred extensive damage due to the monsoon’s fury. Sukhu lauded the recognition received from NITI Aayog and the World Bank for the State Government’s commendable disaster mitigation and efficient relief and rescue operations.

The immediate priority, Sukhu mentioned, is to provide swift relief and financial aid for reconstructing homes that have suffered partial or complete damage. He assured that the Government’s commitment to rehabilitating the affected families remains steadfast, even in the face of financial challenges.

In the upcoming Vidhan Sabha session, set to commence on September 18th, discussions will be held on the aftermath of the disaster and the subsequent steps taken to restore normalcy, Sukhu announced.

During the visit, the Senior Citizen Council presented a cheque of Rs. 21 lakh, and students from Career Point University in Bhoranj contributed Rs. three lakh to the Aapada Rahat Kosh (Disaster Relief Fund), showcasing the community’s united efforts to support the affected families.

The Chief Minister’s proactive approach and the collaborative efforts of various organizations highlight the priority given to relief and restoration activities in the wake of the recent calamity.
