CM’s Wife Kamlesh Thakur and BJP’s Hoshiyar Singh File Nominations for Dehra Assembly Bypoll
Dehra, June 21, 2024: In a significant political event, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu’s wife, Kamlesh Thakur, and BJP candidate Hoshiyar Singh filed their nomination papers for the Dehra Assembly bypoll. Addressing a rally post-nomination, CM Sukhu criticized Hoshiyar Singh, who had been elected twice as an Independent, for allegedly betraying his mandate and focusing on personal gains instead of public issues.

Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized his deep connection with Dehra, highlighting its significance as his paternal home and his in-laws’ place. He announced the sanctioning of a ₹400 crore zoological park, which is expected to create employment for 2,000 local youths. Additionally, he mentioned that the government would transfer ₹1,500 monthly to the accounts of 10,000 women starting June 25.
The Congress party has united its factions to support Kamlesh Thakur’s candidacy in the bypolls. Meanwhile, BJP candidate Hoshiyar Singh, backed by former CM Jai Ram Thakur and BJP MP Anurag Thakur, also submitted his nomination with a significant show of support.
Jai Ram Thakur blamed CM Sukhu for the bypolls in nine Assembly constituencies, alleging that his dictatorial attitude led to the resignation of six Congress and three Independent MLAs who then joined the BJP. He also called for Sukhu to address serious allegations made by HPCC treasurer Rajesh Sharma.
