Communal Tensions Escalate: Gurugram Imposes Prohibitory Orders, Delhi Tightens Security

In the wake of the recent communal clashes in Haryana’s Nuh, Gurugram has imposed prohibitory orders after incidents of violence erupted near a residential society on Tuesday. Several shops and shanties were set on fire, prompting authorities to take swift action to control the situation. In a bid to prevent further incidents of arson, the sale of loose petrol or diesel has been banned.

The ripples of the violence in Nuh have reached the posh areas of Gurugram, leading Delhi to tighten security measures. Drones have been deployed to monitor sensitive areas to ensure peace and prevent any potential spillover of violence.

The clashes originated during a religious procession in Nuh on Monday, located just 50 km from Delhi. The trigger was an objectionable video that went viral, leading to a mob pelting the procession with stones. In response, the participants, numbering over 2,500, sought refuge in a temple. However, the situation escalated as the evening wore on. A mosque was set on fire post-midnight, and mobs went on a rampage, torching and vandalizing over a hundred vehicles in both Nuh and neighboring Gurugram.

The incident has garnered attention from right-wing organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, who are conducting protest marches in several parts of Delhi, expressing their concern over the violence in Haryana. The protests have resulted in traffic jams in various parts of Delhi and its neighboring areas.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar suspects a conspiracy behind the clashes and termed the incident “unfortunate.” He believes that some individuals planned an attack on those participating in the religious procession and the police, which led to violence in multiple locations.

As the situation remains tense, authorities are taking necessary steps to restore calm and maintain law and order in the affected areas.
