Congress Accuses PM Modi of Spreading False Propaganda on Himachal’s Economy, Confident of Winning Haryana & J&K Elections

Shimla, October 3: Naresh Chauhan, Chief Advisor (Media) to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of spreading false propaganda about the state’s economic condition during election rallies in neighboring states. Speaking at a press conference today, Chauhan claimed that the Prime Minister’s statements were an attempt to mislead voters and engage in vote-bank politics ahead of the upcoming elections in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir. He asserted that BJP’s strategies would not succeed and that the Congress government is poised to secure power in both states.

Chauhan refuted the claims of an economic crisis in Himachal, emphasizing that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had implemented several effective measures to stabilize the state’s economy. He mentioned that the current Congress government is committed to making Himachal self-reliant, with reforms already in place that will show significant results within three to four years.

He further criticized the BJP-led Central Government for not providing any financial assistance to Himachal during last year’s devastating natural disaster. Chauhan expressed frustration, stating that while the central government continues to speak about Himachal’s financial woes, it has not offered any relief to the affected people. In contrast, the state Congress government delivered a relief package worth ₹4500 crore to support those impacted by the calamity.

Highlighting the achievements of the Congress government in the past 20 months, Chauhan stated that several historic decisions have been made, including the fulfillment of key electoral promises. He proudly mentioned the restoration of the old pension scheme for employees, one of the party’s ten guarantees, and noted that five guarantees have already been fulfilled. The remaining five will be implemented in a phased manner.

He also spoke about the government’s ambitious welfare schemes, including the Sukhashray and Sukh Shiksha Yojana, which provide financial and educational support to orphans and widows. Additionally, Himachal Pradesh has become the first state to offer a support price for milk, underscoring its commitment to public welfare.

Chauhan concluded by asserting that voters in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir would not be swayed by the BJP’s “false promises,” expressing confidence that the Congress would win in both states.
