PVS Speaker holds discussions with experts and officials to promote animal husbandry, fish husbandry, horse husbandry, dog husbandry, and dairy-related occupations

Directs Animal Husbandry department and the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences to prepare a joint proposal

Chandigarh, February 8:

          Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Thursday said that the need of the hour is to encourage the interested youth and farmers of Punjab for pursuing occupations related to animal husbandry, fish husbandry, horse husbandry, dog husbandry, and dairy farming towards various employment opportunities. The Speaker emphasized that by embracing these occupations, they can attain the ability to lead fulfilling lives.

          During a meeting with experts, officials of the animal husbandry department, and the Vice Chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University here today, Speaker S. Sandhwan said that the MLAs have brought to his attention the necessity of encouraging needy youth and farmers to pursue auxiliary occupations in agriculture. He stressed the importance of giving special attention to this sector.

          Speaker Sandhwan said that the concerned parties should come forward to create employment in animal husbandry, fish husbandry, horse husbandry, dog husbandry and dairy related occupations. He said that Veterinary University and Department of Animal Husbandry should send their teams to animal fairs which are already organized in different countries so that more information can be obtained in this regard.

  1. Sandhwan also asked the Department of Animal Husbandry and the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences to come up with a joint proposal to create a plan to promote diverse employment occupations and to arrange necessary funds in this regard. He said that if an officer is found to be negligent in the process of making a joint proposal, departmental action can be taken against them.

          On this occasion, MLAs Rana Gurjit Singh and Fauja Singh Sarari, Amit Ratan, Kashmir Singh Sohal, Madan Lal Baga, Kuljit Singh Randhawa, Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, Additional Chief Secretary Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Vikas Pratap, Vice Chancellor Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana Inderjit Singh and Director Fisheries Jasveer Singh, Director Dairy Development Kuldeep Singh, Director Animal Husbandry Fisheries and Dairy Development Gursharanjit Singh Bedi were present.
