New Delhi, January 25: As India prepares to celebrate its 75th Republic Day, the national capital is gearing up for a massive security operation. Over 70,000 personnel will be deployed across Delhi to ensure a smooth and safe celebration.

Robust Security Measures:

The Delhi Police has put in place “robust and flawless” security arrangements, covering not only the main parade route on Kartavya Path but also vulnerable areas throughout the city. Special Commissioner of Police (Security) Dependra Pathak emphasized the real-time coordination between various police units and central security agencies for optimal security.

Focus on Key Areas:

Around 14,000 security personnel with dedicated roles will be stationed at Kartavya Path, the heart of the celebrations. Commandoes, quick reaction teams, and anti-sabotage units will be strategically positioned to address any potential threats. Additionally, aerial security measures are in place to counter potential drone threats.

Preparing for Large Crowds:

At least 77,000 invitees are expected to attend the Republic Day Parade. To manage this influx, the New Delhi district has been divided into 28 zones, each headed by senior officers. Special facilities like missing person booths, helpdesks, and first-aid kiosks will be available, along with separate booths for secure vehicle key deposit.

Traffic Restrictions and Guidelines:

Extensive traffic arrangements and restrictions will be implemented along the parade route and surrounding areas. The parade will begin at 10.30 am from Vijay Chowk and proceed towards the Red Fort grounds. Additionally, a ceremony will be held at the National War Memorial at 9.30 am.

Visitors are advised to reach the venue early and cooperate with thorough security checks. Important traffic restrictions include:

  • No traffic movement on Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 6 pm on Thursday.
  • C-Hexagon-India Gate closed from 9.15 am on Friday till the parade crosses Tilak Marg.
  • Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhas Marg closed from 10.30 am on Friday.

Additional Measures:

Flying of drones and other aerial platforms is prohibited over Delhi until February 15. Heavy transport and light goods vehicles from other states will not be allowed to enter Delhi from 11 pm on Thursday till the parade concludes.
