In a visionary statement, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann articulated his belief that the Delhi-Katra Expressway would usher in an era of unparalleled development and prosperity for the state. The Chief Minister, alongside Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, undertook a comprehensive review of this prestigious project and expressed optimism regarding its imminent dedication to the nation.

Mann emphasized that the ambitious project is on track for completion in the near future, with the full support and cooperation of the state government provided to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). He anticipates that the expressway will not only stimulate economic activity within the region but also create fresh employment opportunities for the youth.

The Chief Minister’s vision extends to this project becoming a catalyst for trade and commerce, positioning Punjab as a leading state in the nation. He acknowledged the Union Minister’s proactive role in expediting the project, which is set to bolster the state’s economy. Furthermore, the expressway will streamline the pilgrimage route to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and stimulate economic activities in the vicinity.

Mann reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to holistic development, promising more such transformative projects in the future. The Delhi-Katra Expressway, once completed, is expected to significantly reduce travel time, costs, and energy expenditure for commuters traveling between Delhi and Punjab, as well as Jammu and Kashmir, especially those seeking to pay homage at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The 254-kilometer-long expressway, with an estimated cost of Rs 11,510 crore, will traverse nine districts in the state, including Jalandhar, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Patiala, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Gurdaspur.
