Chandigarh, March 27:
To review security challenges and emerging threats to Railways, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav today chaired a coordination meeting with State Level Security Committee for Railways (SLSCR) at Punjab Police Headquarters.
Special DGP Railway Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, Special DGP Internal Security RN Dhoke, Principal Chief Commissioner Railway Police Force (RPF) AN Mishra, Senior Deputy Commissioner Security Nitish Sharma, AIG GRP APS Ghuman and Government Railway Police (GRP) Punjab and Central were present in the meeting. Other partners of departments including agencies were present.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the purpose of this meeting is to ensure better coordination between RPF, GRP Punjab Police and central agencies. He further said that joint efforts are being made to tackle security challenges and protect railway infrastructure.
Emphasizing the need for better coordination between RPF, GRP Punjab Police and central agencies, the DGP directed the concerned officials to hold regular coordination meetings to discuss the challenges faced and resolve them.
He asked RPF and GRP Punjab to send joint teams to patrol railway tracks and escort trains to ensure safety of common passengers.
He said that concrete efforts are being made to further strengthen the railway infrastructure in the state.
It may be mentioned that the officials of RPF, GRP Punjab and central agencies assured to work together.
