Dharamshala Assembly Constituency to spend 12.55 Crore I for Water Supply and Drainage Improvements
Dharamsala (Arvind Sharma) 22/2/24
In a significant development aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of Dharamshala, MLA Sudhir Sharma announced a comprehensive investment plan totaling Rs 12. 55 crore. This fund is earmarked for the augmentation of drinking water supply and the channelization of ravines and drains within the Dharamshala assembly constituency, addressing some of the critical infrastructure needs of the area.
The initiative underscores a proactive approach to mitigating the potential drinking water scarcity during the peak summer months in this legislative area. Among the key projects outlined by MLA Sharma, a notable allocation of Rs 2.68 crore is dedicated to the maintenance and repair of primary water sources, specifically the Gaj and Bhated Khad, which are crucial to the urban drinking water supply scheme in Dharamsala.
Further enhancing the region’s infrastructure, Rs 9.48 crore is allocated for the channelization of Manjhi Khad across Sheela and Passu Panchayats of the assembly constituency. This project aims to efficiently manage water flow and prevent erosion, thereby safeguarding agricultural lands and reducing the risk of flooding.
Additionally, a significant investment of Rs 38.55 lakh will focus on the installation of a security wall along the Ghurlu drain in Khaniyara Ward No. 15, under the Municipal Corporation of Dharamshala. This measure is intended to protect the surrounding areas from potential damage caused by overflowing drains, ensuring the safety and well-being of the local community.
These projects collectively represent a strategic effort to strengthen the region’s water management systems and infrastructure, enhancing the quality of life for residents and ensuring the sustainable development of the Dharamshala assembly constituency.
