Elections not to save government, but to rebuke BJP: CM  Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu

Shahpur: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, addressing a massive gathering at Chambi ground in the Shahpur assembly constituency today, emphasized the historic significance of the upcoming election. He said that six Congress MLAs have been sold in the political market of BJP and there was a conspiracy to topple the government with money power. He said that this election is important, as it is a chance to stand against unethical political practices. He said that the state government faces no threats, evidenced by the feilding of two MLAs in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. CM said that the congress party will secure a land sliding victory in all four Lok Sabha seats and six assembly by-elections.

He said that the Congress Party has provided an opportunity for individual from ordinary families, like himself, to serve as Chief Minister. He said that the present state government has reinstated the old pension for government employees and initiated recruitment for 22 thousand government posts, surpassing the previous administration’s record of filling only 20 thousand posts in five years. The chief minister said that under the previous government’s tenure, recruitment processes were often stalled due to legal complexities. However, the Congress government successfully resolved these entanglements, paving the way for youth employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister said that the Congress government has implemented of a scheme providing a pension of Rs 1500 to women in the state, whereas BJP had approached the Election Commission to halt it. He said that if permission is granted, Rs 1500 would be deposited into women’s accounts within 24 hours, otherwise Rs 3000 of two installments would be provided in June month. Additionally, the state government has introduced welfare schemes for orphaned children, widows, and the elderly. He said that cow milk is being purchased at Rs 45 per liter, buffalo milk at Rs 55 per liter, whereas wheat produced through natural farming at Rs 40 per kg, and maize at Rs 30 per kg. He said that by curbing corruption inherited from the BJP government, the state has generated an additional revenue of Rs 2200 crore, which is now being redistributed to the people through various welfare schemes.
