Fatal Assault in Moga, Punjab: Accused Charged After Viral Video Surfaces

In the Moga district of Punjab, a person was brutally beaten to death, accused of stealing from a Gurudwara. A video of this incident has gone viral on social media. The victim, Karan Singh, had succumbed to his injuries just days after the attack, which occurred approximately ten days ago. Following the emergence of the video, the local police have taken action against six individuals in connection with the murder. The police stated that after viewing the video, the victim’s family provided information leading to the identification of the attackers.

As per the information coming , Karan Singh was admitted to a hospital in Moga on October 16th, after he was allegedly injured while fleeing from a theft at a village Gurudwara. He had sustained critical injuries during his hospitalization and eventually passed away. On October 17th, his family conducted his last rites under pressure from the village council and the local community. Nearly a week after his death, the family was shown a video on social media depicting the merciless beating of Karan Singh. The video showed a group of people brutally assaulting him with sticks, his hands and feet bound.

Upon viewing the video and considering the evidence and statements from the family, the police registered a case against six individuals identified as Nanak Singh, Gurnam Singh, Jagtar Singh, Sira Singh, Dharampal, and Kaku. Additionally, 16 others were named in connection with the case. The accused individuals were charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 302 (murder), 342 (wrongful confinement), 148 (rioting, armed with a deadly weapon), and 149 (unlawful assembly).
