“FIR Registered Against ‘X’ Account Handlers of Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi for Alleged Fake Post”
Indore Police has taken action by filing a First Information Report (FIR) against the individuals responsible for the ‘X’ accounts of prominent Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, MP Congress chief Kamal Nath, and former union minister Arun Yadav. The FIR was lodged in response to a post on these accounts, which accused the Madhya Pradesh BJP government of corruption.
In a statement shared on the official Twitter handle, now known as X, the Indore Police Commissioner disclosed that a complaint was lodged by Nimesh Pathak, the legal cell convener of the local BJP. The complaint highlighted the circulation of a fabricated letter attributed to a person named Gyanendra Awasthi on various social media platforms.
This contentious letter alleged that contractors in the state were being coerced into paying a commission of 50 percent. The Indore Police Commissioner announced that a case had been registered against Gyanendra Awasthi, as well as the “handlers” of the ‘X’ accounts associated with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Kamal Nath, and Arun Yadav. The case was filed at the Sanyogitaganj police station in the city. The release also confirmed that the complaint lodged by Mr. Pathak is currently under investigation.
This development highlights the significance of maintaining integrity and accuracy in the digital realm. As investigations unfold, the incident raises questions about the responsible usage of social media platforms, and the potential consequences of sharing unverified information.
